Let’s not reinvent the wheel: sharing reuse stories from DeVL & RDC projects
Webinar presented: Monday 18th March 2019.
During 2017/2018, the ARDC funded a number of domain focussed projects through the Data Enhanced Virtual Laboratory (DeVL) and Research Data Cloud (RDC) programs. While each project delivered a number of software components and related outputs optimised for their research domain, many of these outputs have been, or could be, adapted, adopted and reused by projects and platforms in other domains. This not only results in greater efficiencies through reuse, but also supports collaboration and trans-disciplinary research through the use of shared platforms and frameworks.
This short series of webinars will explore the opportunities and challenges for reuse of components and outputs developed under the DeVL and RDC programs. It will be of interest to researchers, software developers, project managers and business analysts working in any domain who have an interest in learning about reusable software components.
The first webinar will demonstrate how outputs from the EcoCloud project have already been adopted and adapted by projects in other domains. Hear an overview of the EcoCloud software stack, learn about specific components that have since been adopted by other domains and hear about the challenges and experiences of those involved. Our presenter line-up includes:
–Sarah Richmond – Project Manager, EcoCloud Project, Griffith University
–Gerhard Weis – Senior Software Engineer, Griffith University
–Nick Rossow – Manager, eResearch Services, Griffith University
–Jonathan Yu – Data Scientist, CSIRO
–Siddeswara Guru – Data Science Director, TERN
Listen and find out how your project could also reap the benefits of work already undertaken to deliver these projects.
