Research Data Management Framework for Australian Universities Open for Consultation

The draft Research Data Management Framework, created through ARDC Institutional Underpinnings, is now open for consultation.
Research data management framework

Institutional Underpinnings is a collaborative project between 25 of Australia’s universities to develop a shared approach to university research data management in the form of a nationally-agreed framework.

The program aims to increase Australian universities’ capability in research data management and encourage collective problem-solving and alignment across the sector.

The draft Research Data Management Framework is now open for consultation. The Framework was developed by the 25 participating universities, with more than 90 experts contributing to working groups to identify and develop the key elements that are included.

The Australian research community is invited to review the Framework and provide feedback, which will help inform the final version. Please review the draft Research Data Management Framework. We strongly encourage collective submissions that reflect the input of a group or organisation.

To assist those who wish to submit feedback on the Framework, we are holding public webinars to introduce the Framework, answer questions about it, and describe the type of input we’re seeking. The webinars are open to all, but will be directed towards specific audiences, as listed below.

Webinar dates:

  • 11 April — for universities — register now
  • 28 April — for non-university research institutes — register now
  • 4 May — for national research infrastructure and service providers — register now
  • 11 May — for all audiences — register now

Alongside feedback from the community, the 25 university partners are running projects to test aspects of the framework. The results from the projects will also help us to develop the final Framework.

The final Research Data Management Framework will be launched in December 2022.

Review the draft Research Data Management Framework.

The ARDC is funded through the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) to support national digital research infrastructure for Australian researchers.
