The ARDC is pleased to announce the release of the Research Link Australia (RLA) service, which allows you to find information about Australian research and innovation activities, and the research, government and industry stakeholders involved in them. It is a significant milestone towards a collaborative and innovative research and translation ecosystem.

RLA is a pivotal initiative aimed at enhancing connectivity and knowledge exchange among universities, research organisations, businesses, industry players, and government bodies. Guided by an Advisory Committee with diverse backgrounds in research and industry, the ARDC has collaborated closely with government entities, key data agencies, research-industry facilitators, businesses, and research communities through a meticulous consultative and co-design approach to shape this transformative platform.

“Collaboration among research, business and government is critical if we are to improve research translation and innovation. It leads to improvements in key areas such as health, environment and economy that can benefit all Australians. However the pathways to such collaborations are not always clear. The RLA service is an exciting new piece of infrastructure that the ARDC has developed because it makes the connection points between research, government and industry more visible and this will catalyse and cultivate the collaborations needed for innovation to thrive”, said Natasha Simons, Director, National Coordination, ARDC.

The RLA project is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education with dedicated funding from the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS).

What Does the RLA Service Offer?

Technical platform

The RLA service introduces a platform to facilitate seamless information sharing and collaboration. It provides a robust infrastructure for researchers, government and industry stakeholders to connect and thereby drive innovation. Information is derived from a number of open sources and RLA is continuing to work with providers to improve coverage and quality.

Improved connectivity

With the RLA service, users can expect enhanced information that links across disparate entities within the research and innovation landscape. Whether you’re a researcher seeking industry partnerships or a business looking to tap into academic expertise, RLA is a nexus for collaboration and growth.

Interactive dashboards

To demonstrate the potential use of RLA information to identify trends and patterns, to facilitate informed decision-making, and for strategic planning, the RLA service includes several dashboards that present and visualise data in an engaging and intuitive manner.

Next Steps

The release of the RLA service marks the beginning of an iterative process aimed at refining and expanding the capabilities of the RLA platform.
