Research Data Governance Video and Resources

Using data responsibly requires a solid and sustainable framework.

Good data governance relies on having a formal policy and agreements that specify roles and responsibilities and procedures, including access and security procedures. This makes it easier to know who has authority for the data, who’s accountable for the data and what happens if the people responsible leave the organisation.

Following procedures also means steps aren’t forgotten, such as de-identifying data so that other people can use it.

Good data governance is important because it helps the wider research community maintain data integrity into the future.
