Expanding the coverage and diversity of annotated glycoproteins and improving the use of data standards.
Researchers seeking to understand the biochemical structure–function relationships of carbohydrates require detailed descriptions of the biological source, assay conditions and experimental results. Currently, this data is insufficiently reported in the literature and databases lack the tools to standardise, integrate and display key relationships linking the field of glycosciences with other life science domains.
The project focuses on expanding the coverage and diversity of annotated glycoproteins stored in UniCarbKB and improving the use of data standards and common ontologies to describe data collections. Our approach adds value to research data by providing high quality metadata that describes the provenance, acquisition and interpretation of data using best practices recommended by MIRAGE.
