The Australian Research Data Common’s Infrastructure and Data Summits

The Storage and Compute Infrastructure and Data and Services Summits will take place on Monday 21 October 2019, the day before the eResearch Australasia Conference, at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Brisbane.

In April, the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) called for, and funded, project proposals [PDF, 241 KB] to investigate issues, current and future trends, gaps and requirements in and for, both, research storage and compute infrastructures and data and services.

We were looking for answers to these questions to help guide our activities - Where does the ARDC fit? Where do others fit? What are the challenges? Where can and should we evolve?

With our successful Discovery Activity project partners, we’re immensely excited to invite thought leaders from universities, research organisations, infrastructure providers, domain and thematic groups, and other institutions involved in the research sector to join us in sharing the resulting outputs, ideas and new partnerships to drive the conversations, generated by these activities, forward. We’re also very pleased to be able to align the timing of the Summits with the eResearch Australasia Conference, our region’s premier eResearch meeting, and look forward to welcoming you to Brisbane.

The Summits bring together stakeholders that are developing the underpinning infrastructures and investigating transformative data collections to help drive the development of a coherent national data system. It is also an opportunity to engage with your colleagues on a day filled with insights and learnings.

Registration is free and is via the eResearch Australasia registration process, found here. The summit is listed as a pre-conference workshop. Please note that this event is not necessarily linked to attending the eResearch Australasia conference.

Please have a look at the Storage and Compute Infrastructure draft agenda to see how the day is structured. An agenda for the Data and Services Summit will be available soon. Stay tuned!
