The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) is excited to be part of Data Science Week 2021, which aims to raise awareness of data science and share knowledge across a community of data scientists, technologists, visualisers, educators and more.

Data Science Week 2021 is supported by WA Data Science Innovation Hub, Pawsey Supercomputing Centre, Australian Space Data Analysis Facility and NCI Australia.

Below are the Data Science Week events involving ARDC and our co-investment projects.

ARCOS – A National View of Containers and Kubernetes in Research

  • When: 10 May 2021, 1pm (AEST)
  • Run by: ARDC & University of Melbourne eResearch Centre

This presentation will outline the vision of ARCOS, provide an update of the current progress of the initiative, solicit feedback from the audience and encourage those interested in this ground-breaking initiative to participate in its development.

A National Approach to Research Software

Part of Data Science Week and an RDA Plenary 17 Regional Event

The ARDC is preparing a national agenda for research software, to address the challenge of recognition of research software as a first-class output of research. Join us as we map out the dimensions of this challenge, and begin a discussion around how to address it.

Getting started with Deep Learning

This lecture provides a high-level overview of how you could get started with developing deep learning applications, including pointers to various resources you could use to gain a stronger foothold in deep learning.

For: researchers who may be complete beginners in machine learning, deep learning, or even with programming, but who would like to get into the space to build AI systems hands-on.
