Announcing the New Director of Outreach

Ian Duncan has been appointed to the newly created position of Director, Outreach at the ARDC.

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Duncan to the newly created position of Director, Outreach. The Director, Outreach will oversee the development and implementation of ARDC programs to engage key partners and stakeholders.

Ian brings over 20 years’ experience in working at an executive level in research infrastructure environments, with a career spanning both the research and private sectors. 

In 2002, Ian joined The University of Queensland (UQ). He held key roles in the Queensland Brain Institute and the Australian Institute for Bioengineering & Nanotechnology, before transitioning to the Associate Director of Enterprise Support within UQ’s Information Technology Services (ITS) division. 

Ian has extensive experience in support of the Australian research infrastructure sector, with 6 years directing national eResearch infrastructure projects under the NCRIS banner, including Research Data Services. He has made a significant contribution to the ARDC, most recently as Director eResearch Infrastructure & Services, including delivery of a major refresh of the ARDC Nectar Research Cloud. His roles have always had a strong focus on technology, relationships and engagement and he is well placed to lead this new portfolio.  

Ian will transition from his existing role to the ARDC Director, Outreach over the coming weeks. Arrangements will be communicated to key stakeholders on points of contact as they are finalised.
