About the Event

Join us for an online event to understand the final report, recommendations and toolkit of reusable data queries from the Australian National PID Strategy.

To ensure the Australian National Persistent Identifiers (PID) Strategy is implemented effectively and achieves sustained success, policy makers must develop robust benchmarks to track progress and measure outcomes. The primary objective of the Benchmarking Project, undertaken by Digital Science and the ARDC, has been to develop a comprehensive benchmarking framework to monitor the Strategy and Roadmap’s impact and effectiveness over time. After consultation and development, the final report from the project has been released.

The report reviews persistent identifier practices in the Australian research system, noting Australia’s strong foundation built on the successful ORCID strategy and the solid PID practices of its institutions for theses and research reports. The report identifies areas where more progress can be made via 23 specific recommendations relevant to the National Strategy, funders, institutions, repositories, facilities and more. The report has also released a toolkit of reusable data queries built on a snapshot of the relevant open data to support those technically proficient in research measures, performance and impact analysis.
