Improving Indigenous Research Capabilities Through Data
Exploreabout Improving Indigenous Research Capabilities Through Data
In August 2019, the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invited the Australian research sector to collaborate on creating world-class data intensive platforms to ensure Australia is at the cutting edge of data-enabled research. And that was just the beginning!
Since that initial call we have invited expressions of interest in two more programs, Health Studies National Data Asset and Cross-NCRIS National Data Assets, from our National Data Assets (NatDA) initiative.
Over the next 18 months we are increasing our activities in the creation, analysis and retention of high-quality data assets. And what does this mean for you?
It means there are more opportunities for you to help shape and contribute to creating a portfolio of national-scale data assets that support leading-edge research. The full eighteen months schedule for the NatDA is now available:
Through our Platforms program you can also be involved in developing virtual research environments to find, collect, and analyse data, and generate FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) outputs.
Yesterday, Friday 29 May 2020, our Public Sector Bridges program opened expressions of interest to identify potential collaborations between public sector departments and research organisations. The aim of this program is to improve access and reuse of public sector data by researchers. This may be achieved through agreed standards, quality measures, interfaces and access arrangements; that in turn accelerate research and innovation.
Calls for expressions of interest in our 2020 Platforms and the Australian Data Partnerships programs will open in early July 2020. The two programs have complementary emphases in supporting leading edge research and will, where possible, leverage each other to provide world-leading outcomes. The Australian Data Partnerships program will establish or enhance national collaborative data assets and the 2020 Platforms provides innovative platform solutions to work with data.
