It was wonderful to see our project partners and the HASS and Indigenous research data community at our recent symposium. Thank you for the contribution of our partners and supporters who presented. You can read a summary of the Symposium and hear updates from our focus areas in recordings via our article.
We were thrilled to launch the first initiative in the next phase of the HASS and Indigenous Research Data Commons on the 17th of June – the Australian Internet Observatory. You can stay up to date with the new initiative by following its LinkedIn page.
Stay tuned for more official announcements about the next phase of the research data commons.
I’d like to invite you to an upcoming workshop where we’ll discuss topic ideas for the 2025 Computational Skills Summer School. While the Summer School is for HDR and early career researchers and data managers in the HASS and Indigenous research community, we welcome everyone to come to the workshop and share ideas on what we could cover at the Summer School. Please register for the session, to be held online on 31 July. Learn more and register >

Mapping Australian Collections Practices to Foster Indigenous Data Sovereignty
Researchers at The University of Adelaide are inviting participants to complete a survey supported by the ARDC which will provide a snapshot of Australian collecting institutions’ experience and readiness to implement Indigenous data sovereignty principles in relation to the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander data and knowledge that they hold.
Responses to this survey will contribute to understanding Australian collecting institutions’ experiences with implementing Indigenous data sovereignty tools and challenges that impede implementation. For more information, access the survey.
Research Institutes and Digital Art History survey
You’re invited to take a brief survey on the expectations and role of research institutes in the support of scholars engaging with the digital humanities.
The survey is intended for colleagues in art history, as well as humanities disciplines or creative practices that intersect with the digital humanities, digital archives and collections, and digital storytelling.
The aim is to reveal potential connections among or differences between what individual researchers need and want and the priorities of research institutions. For more information, please access the survey.
