DOI Decision Tree for Data Managers

A pathfinder for data managers seeking to use a persistent identifier for their data.

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are used to uniquely identify digital research objects, and provide a persistent link to the location of the object on the internet. They also enable citation and tracking of citation metrics.

Australian publicly funded research organisations, government agencies and not-for-profit organisations may use the ARDC DataCite DOI service to mint DOIs for data. The ARDC DataCite DOI Service includes data and associated workflows, software, models, grey literature and other resource types that are in scope for DataCite. The decision tree provides a pathfinder for data managers seeking to use a persistent identifier for their data.
